What is the intent of the ordinance?
It expands current discrimination protections based on areas such as race, ethnicity and religion, and adds sexual orientation and gender identification. It would be a civil infraction in the city to deny a person equal access to an apartment or the purchase of a home, a job, or access to public accommodations (from hotel rooms to health care) because they are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
