What is the intelligence requirement?
The intelligence requirement should identify intelligence to be sought by officers in order to fill gaps in knowledge or understanding. It should be directly related to the force or divisional priorities i.e. the control strategy, but also should try to gather intelligence on emerging threats or issues. By its nature it should be a living document in that, as gathered intelligence fills certain gaps, new areas or questions will be raised which, in turn, require further intelligence to be gathered. These changes should be sanctioned by the relevant tactical T&CG.
