What is the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc?
The Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is the world’s largest technicalprofessional society comprised of over 320,000 engineers throughout the world. IEEE is a non-profit organization that promotes the development and application of electrotechnology and applied sciences for the benefit of humanity, the advancement of the profession and the well being of its members. The technical objectives of the IEEE focus on advancing the theory and practice of electrical, electronics and computer engineering, and computer science. IEEE standards are voluntary and these documents are developed within the Technical Committees of the IEEE Societies and the Standards Coordinating Committees of the IEEE Standards Board. Members of these committees serve voluntarily and without compensation and may or may not be members of the institute. The standards developed within the IEEE represent a consensus of the broad expertise on the subject within the Institute as well as those activitie
