What is the influence of work material on the chatter?
The cutting force coefficients of the material affect the stability directly. The cutting force coefficients are related to the yield strength of the material, friction coefficient between the tool and work material, rake face and cutting edge geometry, helix and approach angles. CUTPRO allows the creation of a fundamental orthogonal cutting data base (shear stress, friction coefficient of the chip tool interface, and shear angle). CUTPRO automatically transforms these material properties to the oblique geometry of the tool using the laws of cutting mechanics. The theory can be studied from Manufacturing Automation, by Y. Altintas, Cambridge University Press.
