What is the Infinity Gauntlet?
There are six soul gems in the Marvel Universe: Soul, Time, Space, Power, Mind, and Reality. Each controls its namesake. Thanos, a Death worshipping megalomaniac from Saturn’s moon Titan, got his hands on all six of the Soul Gems, renamed them the Infinity Gems, and fixed them to his gauntlet, thus the name. His ultimate goal with the Infinity Gauntlet was to impress Mistress Death, building a shrine to her which became his base of operations. Despite his devotion to her, Death spurned his affections. In accordance with one of her wishes, he blinked out of existence half of the universe with a snap of his fingers. His next act was to send out a pulse of force that fucked up everything else. All of Earth’s remaining heroes, led by a recently resurrected Adam Warlock, join forces to take Thanos out, but despite Thanos’ making the battle more even by taking away his ability to see what’s coming, the assault fails miserably.
