Executive Order 12382 authorizes the NSTAC to establish subcommittees. The NSTAC Principals, in accordance with its committee by-laws, established the IES. The purpose of the IES is to assist the NSTAC on matters concerning procedures, plans, and policies for the telecommunication and information systems that support national security and emergency preparedness. The IES may establish working group, task forces, and ad-hoc groups to address pertinent issues. Each member of the NSTAC may appoint one member of the IES and an alternate.
