What is the importance of verdun during word war 1?
I saw a show (Cities Of The Underworld) stating that Fort at Verdun was extremely Important for both Armies in WW1 and well used in WW2 for storage as big bunker busting weapons caused both armies to retreat and take over the fort. The French sabotaged the big guns also adding to it being used more as a bunker and storage rather than a funtioning fort. The main thing I’ve heard about the Batlle Of Verdun was the miners on both sides digging tunnels to plant large quantities of explosive charges underneath the town of Verdun virtually wiping it from the face of the earth. Appart from that ther were great battles in Verdun in WW1 and WW2.
