What Is The Importance Of Understanding The Word Meniscus?
The meniscus is the Greek word and is curve on the surface of liquid due to surface of the container. It has 3 forms called concave and convex. The concave menisci is seen when molecules of the liquid attract the molecules of container e.g. Water in glass. The convex menisci is seen when the molecules of the liquid attract stronger than the molecules of container, e.g. Mercury in glass. The meniscus is very important in plants because capillary action in plants can pull the liquid up (concave) and down (convex). For more details, visit meniscus.
