Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is basically a Middle English alliterative romance about a knight of King Arthur called Sir Gawain. He accepts a challenge from the mysterious green warrior. This poem is very important in English literature. It is one of its kind as far as the Romance genre of English poems is concerned. The romantic poems usually involve a hero that goes on a quest which tests his ability. This poem is unique in a sense that its ending is complex and ambiguous.
