What is the impact of social transfer schemes?
ILO studies and various other studies on existing social transfer schemes conclude that these grant systems have positive impacts on poverty, health and nutrition, social status of recipients (notably women), economic activity and entrepreneurial small scale investments (notably in agriculture), and do not even have marked negative effects on labour market participation of the poor population they serve. They thus also strengthen the active response of a society to the effects of crisis.
