What is the impact of changing a Framework Manager package?
You can change a package without affecting a report, but it really depends on why the model was changed. Here are three reasons: • You add new query subjects, query items, filters, etc without changing what was there before – no issues. • You change the way you modeled something, but the underlying database schema did not change. Old reports will continue to function as long as the old version of the published model in the package still exists – turn on versioning, and keep the number of versions high enough. When you go to edit an old report, it will validate the report against the new published model. This applies to Query Studio sessions also. • You changed the underlying database, and the model change reflects that. Best practice is to remove all old versions of the published model since they might no longer work, or worse, give wrong answers. All reports that are impacted by the change need to be re-edited, or at least re-validated. All other reports should still run as they will
