10. The airborne situational awareness applications will not change the current roles and responsibilities for the aircrew and for the controllers. These applications aim only at improving flight operations by assisting the flight crew in building enhanced traffic situational awareness through the provision by an appropriate on-board display of relevant information on surrounding traffic, using ADS-B. The information provided by the display is intended to supplement the normal out-the-window scan to enhance traffic situational awareness. This enhanced traffic situational awareness should enable a clear and unambiguous understanding of the traffic situation and as such enhance safety.
