What is the “immune system” and what are “immune system boosters”?
The immune system is a complex network of organs, glands and tissues that protects our body from foreign substances. The most common of these immune defenses are our skin and our mucous membranes. We know that when we have a cut or scrape, bacteria and other foreign bodies can enter our system. The same can happen when our mucous membranes, like the ones in our nasal passage, become dry. When this happens, bacteria can invade the immune system and multiply, causing bacterial and viral infections. For the most part, our immune system is strong enough to fight off foreign invaders. But, when the immune system is not efficiently destroying these foreign invaders, it may need some help or a “boost” to complete the task.
