What is the ideal soil to plant citrus trees in?

I live in SoCal, too, in the Inland Empire. You have the right soil and an okay climate for citrus trees. I would give them some partial shade in the afternoon summer sun when it comes, as they first establish themselves. I just feed mine regular compost about twice a year, but I know many of the pre packaged nutrients have a lot of zinc in them. Water them deeply every few days when its warm and about every week or two when its cool. Also make sure to have a good enough layer of mulch around the base of the trunk. And if you have cured compost, mix a little of that when you first plant, otherwise you can probably find something at your local H&G center. Good luck!
