What is the idea behind the Citizens Academy?
The Citizen Police Academy is designed to give the public a working knowledge of the practices, policies, and procedures governing the West Des Moines Police Department. The goal of the Citizens’ Academy is to provide an educational opportunity that would allow citizens to learn first-hand about police operations, and give them a better understanding of today’s law enforcement functions, challenges and opportunities.
