What is the Human Biospecimen Database?
The Human Biospecimen Database is a Web-based, searchable database of human biospecimens collected, stored, and distributed by biorepositories in the United States for research use. This publicly available database contains up-to-date information that can be used to identify and obtain resources for biomedical research as well as drug development in rare diseases, genetics, cancer, immunology, physiology, and cell biology, among other disciplines. The purpose of this database is to facilitate research leading to treatments and cures for rare diseases, as well as more common diseases, by improving researchers’ access to needed human biospecimens.
