Hsmbb-list is a moderated list to keep it low-volume; hsmbb-open is unmoderated, meaning any subscriber can post to the list about discussions on interesting topics, swapping course advice, etcetera. Being subscribed to hsmbb-open does not mean you are subscribed to hsmbb-list (and vice versa) so make sure to check so you don’t miss any important announcements.
