Located mainly in British Columbia B.C, Canada, the Horn River Basin shale play is the largest shale gas field in Canada according to B.C. Energy Minister Richard Neufeld. In 2007, companies spent a total of 240 million in new leases for the Horn River Basin Rock Deposit Area but due to the recession, that number as declined years after.
