What is the Honors Colloquium Series?
Influenced by best practices at other institutions, Colloquia at Union will be used to enhance student learning by cultivating a sense of community among Honors Students and other interested persons through a regular opportunity for fellowship, serendipity, and conversations across disciplines. Designed to incorporate a host of current University activities, such as Lyceum events (i.e., events related to the arts and/or the humanities), Town and Gown lectures featuring faculty presenters addressing topics of interest to both students and the local community, the Carls-Schwerdfeger annual history lecture, annual lectures by the Universitys Scholar-in-Residence, and the Crabtree Family Life lectures, the Honors Colloquia will create cohesion between these events, opportunities for shared funding, and increased opportunities for conversations across disciplines, thus broadening the reach of the Honors Community.
