What is the holly grail?
Supposedly the Grail is the cup or vessel that Christ drank from at the Last Supper and was later used by Joseph of Arimethea to catch his blood as he hung on the cross, but this is odd, because the Last Supper was held in a rented “upstairs room” in an inn, suggesting a more affluent and private affair where the inn would have doubtless supplied the vessels, plates, and utensils. It is rather an interesting concept to think that Jesus and the Apostles brought their own – itinerant preachers and fishermen lugging diningware across the country. As such even the best diningware provided by the inn would have been simple in nature and utilitarian, in order to facilitate ease of replacement in case of damage or theft, probably made of baked earthenware or beaten out of cheap metals. It is possible one of the Disciples bore away the “Cup of Christ”, but not likely – they had no clue as to what was shortly to transpire.
