What is the history of the Minnesota Christian Convention?
• The Convention began in the late 1960s under the Minnesota Christian Evangelizing Association. Until 1985 it was held in a different church each year. The host congregation planned the program. Average attendance was 200 – 250 people. In 1985 MCEA launched out on faith and began meeting in hotels. • A separate committee began planning the conventions in 1986. Since then the attendance has grown substantially. In 1990 MCEA thought there should be a separate Convention organization, so in 1991 the Minnesota Christian Convention was incorporated in the State of Minnesota as its own nonprofit organization. • Since 1992 we have averaged 750 – 1,000 attendees of all ages from infants to the elderly. Many attendees are new Christians coming from denominational backgrounds.
