What is the history of the Medomak property?
Medomak’s history dates back to 1904 when a man named Frank Poland utilized his family property to welcome city boys to the wilds of Maine to give them the opportunity to escape the city for the summer. Poland firmly believed that it was easier to build boys than to mend men. His motto was, “Remember the other fellow”. Three distinct programs are now found on our site. The Retreat Center offers meeting and overnight space for small to mid-size groups. Medomak Family Camp is a traditional summer camp experience for the entire family. We are proud of the nationally recognized program we have developed over the past 15 years. A non-profit girl’s summer camp is run on our third campus for under privileged youth.
