What Is the History of the Harmonium?
A harmonium is an organ-type keyboard instrument with a sound similar to an accordion. It was created in Europe but was used throughout the world before electronic instruments were invented in the mid-20th century. Sound is made by air manipulated by various mechanical components. The instruments became very complicated with the addition of air-regulating stops, levers, rods and shafts, which by the 1950s were unnecessary because of smaller electronic organs that could produce the same sounds.
