What is the history of the by-pass road and its restrictions? Why lift the restriction now?

The Sudbury Road driveway was originally allowed because it is essential to provide proper fire protection to the site according to a 1954 zoning decision. Since then traffic using this driveway has been limited For safety reasons, the Town would like to coordinate the use of this driveway with the 40B development such that the Wayland Commons entrances are off the by-pass road, thereby eliminating the two proposed curb cuts on Old Sudbury Road for the north and south parcels which would be close together and create their own traffic issues.
