What is the history of the Boston Knights?
Seeto: It was founded in 1961 [by Chinatown businessman Reggie Wong], and it serves the Boston Chinatown community in many different ways. They were the first to organize the Chinatown clean-up campaign, in conjunction with the city of Boston Public Works in 1964…They founded the very first annual North American Chinese basketball tournament, the national tournament, in 1981, and the Knights organized the first Boston YMCA Chinatown youth basketball league in 1984. That’s actually when I was introduced to the Knights and when I was a participant as a player in that league as a young teenager. How did you find out about the Knights? I was playing in the Quincy School gym [I grew up in Castle Square] and these older college students approached me and my friends to participate in their basketball league.
