What is the history of TDL SYSTEMS?
The TDL Systems method was developed over a thirty-year period by F. Bruce Herrington, a lifelong adult educator, instructional systems designer, and principal of TDL Systems. In 1974, Mr. Herrington formulated the basic structure of the TDL model while designing an employee orientation program for a state rehabilitation hospital. In its present form, the TDL Systems model is the results of Herringtons accumulated experience as an educator and instructional systems designer in a variety of workplace settings: naval operations, the heavy construction industry, real estate brokerage, international real estate leasing, law enforcement training, and higher education for nontraditional professionals in college. Of course the model, as both a system and as a theory, is informed by Herringtons academic study in psychology, sociology, higher education, and critical theory.
