What is the history of Oriental Rugs?
Oriental Rugs date back all the way to the 5th Century BC. In fact the oldest rug is referred to the Pazyryk rug. It was found frozen in a tomb in 1947 by archaeologist Sergei Rudenko. Before the 12th Centuary AD, rugs were made in India. They soon found their way to the Middle East around 1100AD. The first European country to make rugs were Spain, and England was not too far behind in the 1500’s.
