What is the history of Ironing boards?
An ironing board is a large household utility that is made from a flat board or metal sheet covered in a heat-resistant padding used to help decrease the time it takes to iron, and improve the safety of using an iron. The most common ironing boards fold flat and have hinged collapsible legs. This allows the board to be moved, and placed into an ironing board cupboard. The materials used to manufacture ironing boards are always metal legs, and either a wooden flat bed, or a steel bed. Steel is preferred as it is lighter and more resilient. Almost all designs feature rubber legs to stop the floor being marked and damaged. When not in use – ironing boards should be placed in an ironing board cupboard, or if there is no room – on an ironing board hanger. Ironing board hanger are a great way to keep your ironing board in a safe and upright position. Iron board hangers can easily be assembled on a wall in a utility room or where there is enough space for the board to sit neat and flat agains
