AB-Wikibot Apr 19th, 2007 In late 1785 or early 1786, Georgetown was settled by the Rev. Elijah Craig and Virginia Baptists. The city was incorporated on December 16, 1790. Some of the first mills west of the Appalachians were established in Georgetwon by Craig. Craig’s early mills located on Royal Spring Branch manufactured cloth and paper.
