Editing is an integral part of film-making and goes back to the beginning of the industry. Every film with separate titles has been edited. Every film that used more than one camera angle has been edited. Every silent film that cut away to text has been edited. Editing in-camera can be used on lower-budget productions to keep costs down. If the production team is able to shoot several scenes in sequence and do so in one take per scene, post-production costs can be reduced.
