What is the history of Cedar as a REIT?
In 1998, certain investing clients of management companies controlled by Leo S. Ullman acquired control through a tender offer for the shares of Cedar Income Fund, Inc., a REIT listed on NASDAQ (small cap) market. Cedar Income Fund, at that time, had an approximate market cap of $13 million; it had been in existence since 1984. In October 2003, the Company changed its name to Cedar Shopping Centers, Inc. and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
