What is the history of 3D Imaging Lab?
Dr. Dan Schlusselberg, the founder of 3D Imaging Lab, began developing 3D imaging software in 1978 when he was in medical school in Dallas , Texas. In 1984 he invented a new way of making 3D images called “volume rendering”. This method worked so well that it has become the standard used in most 3D workstation software. In 1989 Dr. Schlusselberg joined the Radiology faculty at Dartmouth Medical School and started offering a mail-based 3D imaging service called 3D Express throughout New England. The service approach was necessary because volume-rendered 3D animations (movies) provided the best visualization, and it took too long for imaging centers to produce these animations on standard 3D workstations. In 1990 Dr. Schlusselberg and colleagues at Dartmouth Medical School developed a revolutionary new technique for visualizing cerebral vessels which they called CT angiography. This was a process of using CT scanners with dye injected in arm viens to generate 3D images of arteries that c
