If the head of the arrow is pointing to the northeast, then the wind is coming from the northeast. The wind vane was invented 3500 to 4000 years ago according to the ancient writings. The earliest weather vane was built by the astronomer named Adronicus. It was the figure of the Greek god Triton whose body was made up of the head and torso of a man and the tail of a fish. This weather vane was between 4 to 8 feet long.
