What is the history and meaning of the painting of the Aztec Indian on the MKHS Homepage?

The Aztec is a symbol of the proud heritage of the Aztec culture that permeates the spirit of our school. Our school colors are Cardinal & White. The original painting “The Aztec” was donated to Mark Keppel High School at the January 16, 2001 Board of Education meeting. The artwork was painted by Donald “Putt” Putman. He donated a similar piece of art to San Gabriel High School and to Alhambra High School. Gayle Rose, Donald Putman’s niece, handed them over to the schools with a heartfelt and humorous speech. “The Aztec” painting is now proudly displayed in the Principal’s Office and is one of Mark Keppel High School’s most valued treasures. 15. How do I know if Mark Keppel High School serves the area where I live or where I will be moving to? Please check the Alhambra School District map. Be sure to call the MKHS Guidance Office to verify the information you find on the map. Thank you. 16.
