What is the highest qualification in childcare?
In childcare (and education) the higher up you go, the less contact you have with children! So if you mean practical hands on childcare then yes, a teacher or head teacher who still teaches would be the highest, in my opinion, as they still have a pastoral role in caring for the child for the time the child is in their charge. An educational psychologist is very high up and a demanding role who actually spend time with children, but it isn’t really “child care” as such. Graduates (whether teachers or nursery staff or childminders!) could do masters and doctorate course in child development, education or psychology, but they aren’t necessarily directly linked (or needed) for the job, which lead to an M.A, M.Ed and PhD qualification.
