What is the height of a Horse jockey?
Amanda has had the best answer so far…I rode (thouroughbred racing) for ten years. The don’t measure you they only weigh you. I am near 5’5 a little on the tall side but not much, I’m also female so naturally lighter at that height than the guys. I think the average male jockey would be considered short (obviously) Pat Day is around 4’10 but I also rode with some other pretty tall, pretty bulimic guys over the years. Also, with regard to whatever anyone said about not being able to weigh over a certain amount (112lbs???) This is entirely untrue. The weight a horse carries is determined by different factors, “scale of weight by age,” past performance, etc. in order to try to establish an unbiased race in paramutual wagering. Bug riders (apprentice jockeys) also get to carry less weight off what the horse would normally carry and that is determined by how many races the rider has one and also varies in different regions of the country but is never over 10lbs.
