What is The Health Careers and Workforce Diversity (HCWD) Program?
The Health Careers and Workforce Diversity Program introduces youth, with special emphasis on minority youth, to health careers. The NC AHEC Program is committed to expanding the development of activities that will serve to increase the representation of minority populations in health careers. How are programs developed for HCWD? Programs are designed based on the five core functions of the program. The Minority Healthcare Professional Association is a group which is comprised of individuals from the community, who represent a cross-section of healthcare and related professions. This group advises Area L AHEC of the needs of the minority community as they relate to health careers awareness. The group also looks at other issues which impact minority access to information about the healthcare industry.
