The Happy Birthday/Showoff macro virus reveals itself when you open a Microsoft Word file and a dialog box appears which reads, “Happy Birthday! To one of us peace!” Next, a menu button appears that reads Puff. According to the Symantec AntiVirus Research Center, the Happy Birthday virus infects only Microsoft Word 6/95 documents. This virus appears to be a variant of the Concept macro virus. This Happy Birthday/Showoff/Concept type of virus adds macros to your Word files to produce the symptoms listed above.
