What is the guidance for carrying an attaché case, gym bag, backpack or handbag?
An attaché case or gym bag is carried in the left hand, on the left shoulder, or both shoulders and should not interfere with rendering the proper salute. Attaché case should only be black while gym bags can be black or dark blue and may include an Air Force logo. Backpacks authorized with the BDU can only be solid black, olive drab or woodland camouflage in color. If you’re in a blue uniform combination, only the solid black backpack may be worn. Backpacks can feature a conservative manufacturer’s logo and should be worn using one or both shoulder straps. If only one shoulder strap is used, it must be on the left shoulder. Hand bags should be plain black leather or vinyl without ornamentation and may have a plain fold-over flap and single-placed silver or gold clasp.
