WHAT IS THE GREEN PARTY STAND ON CAMPAIGN FINANCE REFORM, MONEY IN POLITICS, AND POLITICAL REFORMIN GENERAL? DOESNT PUBLIC FINANCING OF CAMPAIGNS MEAN MORE “BIG GOVERNMENT”?
While both Republican and Democratic Candidates talk about political reform, including reform of our campaign finance system, Nader is the only one who is actually practicing it. He has pledged to not accept any PAC or Corporate funding. He is limiting his contributions to no more that $2000 per individual and is calling on thousands of volunteers to donate time. He is running the campaign that the other candidates talk about, dream of, but are too far sold to actually run themselves. On the question of public financing and big government: We already have a lot of public financing, which is as it should be. Our elected officials have a constitutional duty to promote the general welfare of all our citizens. Through government, the public guarantees schools, roads, social programs, and other forms of welfare- some for the poor, but actually much more for the rich.
