What is the greatest ever piece of Fashion ever and what was the best decade for fashion?
Greatest piece of fashion ever? To be honest, i’d say the mini skirt. It pushed limits and completely changed what was acceptable in the world of fashion. The best decade of fashion would have to be the 1960’s – this was also when the miniskirt appeared. Before this period Britain was very conservative and ‘proper’ – children dressed in their parents hand-me-downs and as a result always looked pretty similar. During the 1960’s disposable income for young adults was at an all time high and basically teenagers had more money to spend. They needed new ways to spend this – and one of these ways was Fashion! In came the Mods, Rockers and Hippies – miniskirts, physchedellic prints, fashion magazines telling you all about the latest trends etc. The Sixties really is the basis of fashion today – with new boutiques and fashion designers ready to make their mark (Mary Quant was epecially influencial).
