What is the Grand Council?
The Grand Council meets biennially in the year in which no regular meeting of the Grand Chapter is held. It shall consider and advise upon present and proposed polices of the Fraternity. It has the power to enact, amend or repeal the Statutes of the Fraternity. The members of the Grand Council are the Fraternity’s current Executive Committee, the several Past Grand Consuls, the Grand Tribune, the Grand Historian, the several Grand Praetors, the several Grand Trustees, one undergraduate to be designated by each Grand Praetor, members of the Leadership Training Board and others as may be prescribed by Statute. Undergraduate delegates will also elect two undergraduate members for one-year term service on the Executive Committee during the meeting.
The Grand Council is a body of 20-40 people, chartered by the Board of Directors to develop recommendations on improving the structures of the SCA, Inc. It is not a strictly representative body and has no power to legislate. Its membership has been chosen to represent as many different viewpoints on the SCA as possible. Major discussions are open for the public to read, see the listing for the Grand Council mailing list for details.
