What is the government doing to help retailers, financial institutions and other businesses train their employees, so that they know about the new currency as it is introduced?
As part of an ongoing public education program, the government is providing training materials for businesses to use when training their cash handlers about changes to the currency. To date, more than 78 million pieces of training materials have been distributed in more than 20 languages domestically and internationally, including brochures, posters, training videos and CD-ROMs identifying new changes and security features for redesigned $5, $10, $20, and $50 bills. These free materials can be ordered on-line and are available for download from the Materials to Download section of the Web site. The government will update educational and training materials as each new denomination is redesigned and introduced. These educational materials are available both in the United States and internationally and are particularly important to cash handling businesses that want to train their employees and avoid any confusion with new currency at the point of sale.
