What is the government doing about eliminating uninsured drivers?
The government will take steps to reduce the number of uninsured drivers on the road whose accident claims lead to higher insurance premiums for everyone else. We will re-establish a closer link between insurers and the motor vehicle registration process to reduce the number of uninsured drivers on the road. This will include reinstating the requirement to show valid proof of insurance before registering a motor vehicle.
