What is the Global Campaign on Social Security and Coverage for All?
The “Global Campaign on Social Security and Coverage for All” is a concrete ILO contribution to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and to a fair and inclusive globalisation. The overall objective is to develop awareness and achieve universal access to health care as well as basic income security for all. It was launched in June 2003 at the request of governments, employers and workers, based on the consensus reached at the 2001 International Labour Conference. For countries, the Campaign is a means of mobilizing institutions, social partners, civil society and donors for the extension of social security, as well as launching their initiative according to ILO principles and values. The Campaign should lead to strategy and action plans adapted to national contexts.
