What is the glide ratio of my 190?
About 2.6 to 1, which is not as good as most people think. There are no canopies on the market which exceed 3.0 to 1, even though there are a lot of wild claims…. The glide ratio gets better as you depress the brakes up to a point. In winds, the best performance getting back from bad spots changes, and is not necessarily acheived at the point where the best glide ratio exists. In a tailwind, very deep brakes works well, and in a very high headwind, a little front risers may be needed. Check out the seminar called survival skills for canopy control. You’ll see a method to discover the best glide performance in any wind condition.
