What is the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture Inc.?
• As recently as five years ago, the Park’s programs were in danger of being displaced. At that time, the National Park Service, state of Maryland and Montgomery County began working on a plan that resulted in a $19 million renovation of the Park. That process is now nearing completion. • In June of 2002, the National Park Service transferred management of Glen Echo Park to Montgomery County. In turn, Montgomery County formed the Glen Echo Park Partnership, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization to manage day-to-day Park operations and work with resident arts groups and others to conduct programs. • The Partnership will also take on responsibilities for fundraising formerly held by the Glen Echo Park Foundation, which turned over its assets to the Partnership. • The National Park Service and the County have charged the Partnership with the responsibility for pursuing a financially self-sustaining operation at the Park.
