What is the ginger used for in capoeira martial arts not dance?
I can see one benefit…. So many martial arts teach “stances” and “postures”. However, each is not a static posture. It is a position the body may move through during the execution of a technique. However, you will see students standing in these postures like they are posing. Ginga is a “ready” state that is dynamic and moving. The Capoeira practioner learns to move from a place of motion already into different techniques. It also makes them a “moving target”, therefore more difficult to set up a technique. The main problem I see is what Bruce Lee mentioned in not using a “broken rhythm”. Consistently moving in the same pattern can make someone “predictable”. Be well.
