• The Get Energy Smart Retrofit Program is a program being implemented by Sarasota County and the cities of Sarasota, North Port and Venice to help local homeowners reduce the up front cost of cost saving energy efficiency measures for their homes. • The program aims to increase the energy efficiency of existing homes in Sarasota County through incentives such as free energy saving kits and rebates and low-income loans on home energy retrofit strategies. • Eligible home energy retrofit strategies include energy audits, lighting retrofits, ENERGY STAR appliances, ceiling fans, windows and doors, insulation, duct repair and sealing, high efficiency air conditioners and heat pumps, solar attic fans, radiant roof barriers, solar and gas tankless water heaters. • The program is funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energys Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program using funds allocated under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
