A. Gesso is a combination of water, paint and adhesive and forms a solid coating on the surface of the moulding. Being water based, excessive exposure to water may cause some breakdown in the coating so it is best to keep all mouldings dry prior to installation. Any movement in the coating can be corrected with wood filler and primer prior to final finishing.
